Announcing Exclusive, Inclusive Downhill Skiing at The Ranch

As summer winds down, now is the time to dream of the next blissful getaway that takes advantage of all a season can offer. We’re thrilled to announce that a winter stay at The Ranch will now include virtually every way to delight in Montana’s snowy splendor. We’ve just added downhill skiing and snowboarding excursions to our list of over a dozen fully inclusive winter activities!

Downhill Skiing, Complimentary Nights & More

Winter guests will now enjoy reduced all-inclusive rates, airport transfers from three local airports, all meals and premium beverages, twice-daily on-Ranch activities, plus excursions to our local ski mountain, Discovery Ski Area.

What’s more, winter guests staying three nights at The Ranch will receive a complimentary fourth night! Winter travelers can also take advantage of one of three winter special offers that includes over $800 in added value and allows them to discover new curated adventures, like a romantic winter getaway, a frontier-inspired legendary adventure or a luxury spa and nature retreat.

Effortless Winter Planning

We offer curated adventures to channel inspiring, even transformative, experiences within our long list of experiential travel options. However, a stay at The Ranch is the anti-thesis of a pre-packaged holiday or a crowded ski vacation. These additions are incorporated into individual customized itineraries that reflect a guest’s desires for relaxation or adventure.

Discovery boasts an annual snowfall of approx. 215 inches. There are eight lifts, runs for all skill levels and a terrain park.

Guests will find themselves savoring a relaxed setting where their chosen daily activities seamlessly combine with exceptional dining experiences on thousands of acres of unspoiled snowy terrain.

General Manager Steve Shotsberger noted, “The aim of our all-inclusive rates and these curated winter offers is to provide an expertly planned, enriching winter getaway that is unequaled in the luxury world. We encourage our guests to have higher expectations of what they can experience on their next winter vacation. They are invited to soak up the beauty of our pristine natural setting through new and inspiring winter sports while experiencing warm hospitality and excellent service.”

An Alpine Adventure Like No Other

The decision to fully include downhill skiing and snowboarding was born from our desire to constantly push the frontiers of luxury and experiential travel. Alpine skiing is a big part of our local culture. We want our guests to experience the comprehensive list of winter sports that is available in Montana. But we also want to give guest skiers at every skill level more exclusive access to Montana’s majestic alpine wilderness.

As our guests have conveyed their genuine appreciation for The Ranch as a special place for them to play and reconnect, we realized that the Discovery skiing experience enhances their time to unplug and breathe the mountain air—with a pretty epic view.

“As if the ultra-luxurious experience at The Ranch wasn’t enough, this new all-inclusive ski package truly makes this property unlike any other. First of all, Discovery is a GREAT mountain with incredible terrain and old-school charm. It’s uncrowded and off the beaten path but with terrain that competes with any major ski resort. When you’re there, you feel like you’ve discovered a secret. And the fact that the Ranch now will bring you there and take care of all the details for you is absolutely amazing. It makes me want to book a ticket back to Montana ASAP.”

Exclusive Ski Concierge

A trip to Discovery Ski Area is a beautiful 35-minute mountain drive away. Its close location was one of the reasons owner Jim Manley decided to buy The Ranch and later turn it into a experiential travel destination. In addition to transportation to and from the mountain, this adventure includes customized equipment fittings, a mountain pass, advice on best trails, lunch and an après-ski either in Historic Philipsburg or by the fireside back at The Ranch.

Excursions to Discovery will continue to be led by dedicated Ski Concierges—Ranch guides who are also avid skiers and snowboarders at our local mountain. Ranch employees ski Discovery on their days off and several serve on its ski patrol. They welcome the opportunity to share trail and terrain information and advice. Our Ranch Ambassadors and Group Coordinators are fully prepared to help you organize and plan the best possible approach for your group—whether you are a couple, a bunch of ski buddies or a family catering to all ability levels. Our specialized concierges have also trained in our Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star standards, so they can provide the ideal mix of local culture and luxury service.

The Ranch gives back to the community by supporting the Discovery Ski Patrol, a paid first-responder team that ensures the highest safety standards on the mountain. We also have the pleasure of sponsoring the Discovery Ski Education Foundation, an organization focused on providing a safe, fun and healthy environment for young people from the region to enjoy the physical and social benefits of skiing by offering multiple alpine ski programs, including all-mountain exploration and competitive racing.

Discovery Ski Area, A Secluded Gem

Powder hounds may remember Discovery Ski Area from Warren Miller’s 2014 film, “No Turning Back.” He used our local hill to encapsulate the Mom & Pop ski hills that define skiing and riding, and yet are getting harder and harder to find across the world.

Earlier that year, our hometown, Philipsburg was also named one of of the “Best Secret Ski Towns of North America.” Thanks to its secluded location, Discovery Ski Area still remains a hidden gem in the skiing world, and with 67 runs, three faces and virtually no lift lines, it can offer beginners and experts alike the ability to hone their skills without the crowds.

“The partnership between Discovery and The Ranch at Rock Creek has created a unique ski experience in the US. The combination of our authentic local vibe, our outstanding skiing terrain and the world class customer service and hospitality of The Ranch at Rock Creek results in something truly special and hard to find elsewhere. It’s the ideal experience for seasoned winter travelers looking for challenging skiing without the crowds and attitude, or families looking to learn or improve their skiing without the stress and hassle of a big resort — all with the amenities and service you would expect from a 5-star resort.”
