When Jim Manley was a young boy watching westerns on TV, he dreamed of having his own ranch someday, complete with horses, guns and wide open spaces. More than twenty years later, after working as a general partner at a hedge fund and starting a boutique investment bank called Atlantic Pacific, Manley began his search for the dream property to fulfill his childhood fantasy. This search turned out to be a more difficult process than expected as Manley scoured
the Western United States and Canada for a ranch that fulfilled his requirements – such as low elevation but a high alpine feel, a waterway on the property, a ski resort within easy driving distance and removed from any major highways to provide a true off-the-grid feel for all guests. Finally when Manley was 53 years old, he discovered his dream property at Rock Creek in Montana and snatched it off the market as quickly as possible.
The Ranch has become a reflection of Manley’s dreams. It offers upscale, luxurious accommodations and provides the perfect playground for children and adults alike. Although originally intended mainly for friends and family, Manley decided to open The Ranch to guests to ensure that his children would one day inherit the property and to welcome others who shared his dream of Western adventure.
