Montana Destination Weddings

Ranch celebrations have never been more resplendent, with the 2014 addition of The Buckle Barn. The Ranch at Rock Creek is thrilled to expand its own special gatherings, but it also extends the property’s capabilities to host destination events.

    Buckle Barn Design & Décor

The Buckle Barn was inspired by The Ranch’s own rodeo champion, Buckles Standinger, who owned the property in the mid-20th century. The name is not the only feature that borrows from Montana’s historic past. The 5,500-sq. ft. structure was built from reclaimed fir and pine from The Treasure State, and ceiling tiles were gathered from an old Missoula bank building.
The event space is extremely versatile, ideal for weddings, family reunions, corporate retreats, incentive trips, barn dances, team building meetings, live entertainment, and receptions. The monitor barn roof gained popularity before electricity made it to rural Montana. Builders raised the center ridge of a traditional gable roofline to double the number of windows and flood the sidewalls with natural light.
Interior designer Jet Zarkadas fuses Montana artifacts with lavish modern furnishings. Although her brand of rustic elegance is seen throughout the accommodations and Granite Lodge, her unique Buckle Barn vision includes antique farm equipment, U.S. Cavalry tack and a rodeo buckle collection that would make Mr. Standinger smile.

    The Great Hall

The Great Hall extends 2,700 sq. ft. to the North from the main structure. With 21-foot ceilings, circular sawn fir floor and thick timber supports, the hall itself can hold 120 to 160 seated guests, depending upon the event layout. Staff will customize the look for each gathering, but it is well suited for dining, dancing and live music.
The Buckle Barn opens to a wrap-around Flagstone Patio. The 700-sq. ft. stone terrace is surrounded by manicured lawns and open pasture grasslands. With the inclusion of this space and a large canvas tent, event barn capacity expands from 160 to 250 guests. Our staff can light the outdoor fire pit or set up games on the lawns in the warmer months.

    On-Site Catering & Amenities

Catering is provided on-site from the commercial expo kitchen. The kitchen itself is a work of art, featuring the Woodfire Grill, with its custom-built façade, repurposed from authentic John Deere tractor parts.
We didn’t forego other amenities, such as large, well-appointed bathrooms, a bar and a state-of-the-art projector and screen.

    Small Gathering Room & Library

The main barn has a small gathering space and library. The walls are lined with book collections, antiques and upholstered leather chairs.
The gathering space can be outfitted as a boardroom, classroom or mingling space, with room for 16 to 40 people. Consider scheduling board meetings, bridal receptions, specialty meals and cocktail hours in the warm and inviting library. Views extend for miles along the valley floor.
With extensive indoor and outdoor gathering space, gourmet food and ornate details, The Buckle Barn is far from a typical Montana event venue.

The Ranch at Rock Creek invites you to join us for an exceptional four-night spring fly fishing vacation at our Five-Star resort in Western Montana.  Enthusiastic anglers enjoy memorable fishing days and private access to the acclaimed Rock Creek with our expert guides. Stellar evenings under the big Montana sky are complemented by luxury amenities and the fun exchange of fish tales over regionally-inspired gourmet meals prepared by our Executive Chef, Josh Drage.

    Rock Creek

Nestled among snow-capped mountain ranges, peaceful meadows, and home to abundant wildlife, The Ranch at Rock Creek encompasses four miles of pristine river frontage on the Blue Ribbon trout stream. A freestone mountain stream, Rock Creek is naturally fed from snow melt and spring runoff. With one of the highest fish populations in the state, Rock Creek boasts six different species of trout, including cutthroat, cut-bow, rainbow, brown, brook, and bull as well as the mountain whitefish.

    The Spring Experience

Spring is a wonderful, thrilling time to get out on the water and learn about the world of “emergers.” With the instruction of our guides, guests explore select secret locations and reap the benefits of the coveted annual stonefly hatch. We will wade some runs and riffles and float water ways to see big fish come to the surface for their favorite bugs. Salmon Fly, Skwala, May Fly, Stonefly Nymph, May Fly Nymph species are all represented. In the spring, streamer fishing is at its best.

    Experienced Montana Licensed Fishing Guides

Our guides are truly the best in the West.  As fly fishing experts and Rock Creek specialists, they know the fish, the flies and the best spots.  Our guides are passionate fishermen themselves and bring extensive knowledge and experience (and stories) from fishing the many rivers, lakes and streams of Western Montana.

Guests have casting lessons and river side instruction.  Whether it’s a double haul to perfect, casting into a gusty wind, or simply getting back to the basics of a steeple cast, our guides focus on each guest’s abilities and goals while providing great pointers and useful tools to enhance all fishing skills.

    Fly Fishing Amenities

Upon arrival in their accommodations, guests find all the amenities and equipment needed for their time on the water.  While anglers are welcome to bring their own gear, we provide a rod, reel, waders, boots, and a selection of locally-crafted, hand-tied flies.

    Fly Tying

Nothing is more rewarding than catching a trout on a fly that is personally hand crafted. Guests will learn about the art of fly tying and get the chance to wrap hooks with thread and materials to fool a cleaver trout.

Wading and Floating on a Blue Ribbon Trout Stream

Rock Creek’s designation as a Blue Ribbon trout fishery means guests can expect clean water and enough water flow to support a healthy population of fish.  Per Montana’s stream access laws, all designated rivers or streams must be accessible to the public as the water and the land below is public property.  The body of water must also possess the natural capability to produce and maintain a sustainable recreational fishery, and withstand angling pressure.  With seasonal floating access to most of the 52 miles of Rock Creek in the spring and early summer, guests float a stretch suited to their interests and fishing abilities.

    All-Inclusive Amenities

The following amenities are also included in the special package rate:  Luxury accommodations; Airport transfers; Gourmet meals featuring locally-sourced seasonal ingredients; Premium wine, beer and spirits.
