Group Activities

Twice daily activities are included in your group’s stay at The Ranch. The following activities can be safely executed for your group following social distancing guidelines. Depending upon the size of the group, some activities will be split into smaller groups of 10 people or less. Click on the headers to read more about these activities or peruse our full list of activities.

Horseback Riding | Gain new perspective atop one of our 73 beautiful horses as you ride through The Ranch’s valleys, hillsides and mountains.
Cross-Country Biking | Travel the breadth of The Ranch via mountain bike or e-bike. Book a guided trail ride with our General Manager Jon Martin, an avid cross-country cyclist.
Hiking & Geotagging | Challenge your team to the six-peak challenge during your stay. Use GPS to find coordinates atop The Ranch’s six peaks on hikes or on bikes.
Guided Meditation | Tune your senses to nature during a guided meditation in the great outdoors with Instructor Mary Ferrari.
Art in Nature | Tap into your creative side during an Art in Nature class with Artist-in-Residence John Piacquadio. Turn this into your happy hour activity.

Target Sports | Target sports like sporting clays, pistols, archery and disc golf have been shown to hone concentration and coordination. Break off into smaller groups to try your hand on our five shooting ranges, two archery ranges and disc golf course.
Buckle Barn | Turn our Buckle Barn into your private backyard. Choose to relax by the fire pit or try curated activities, like corn hole, ping-pong, soccer, frisbee or roping.
Ropes Course | Reserve the ropes course to test your limits and encourage team mates to climb higher, jump further and fly faster down our zip lines. (Course requires resting for sanitation)
Smart Phone Scavenger Hunt | Scavenge across the range on a photography adventure that spans your stay. Download the instructions and keep an eye out for the clues during your activities and down time.

Sapphire Mining | Channel your inner prospector while you search through gravel from Rock Creek’s nearby sapphire mountain. Detailed and focused guests will be rewarded.
Frontier Skills | Leave The Ranch with more confidence in your own abilities and the skills to go further on your adventures. Learn to build a shelter, find water, set a snare and start a fire.
Master Naturalist Class | Learn to spot flora and fauna, understand the eco-system and journal like Merriweather Lewis and William Clark did on their expedition across the Louisiana Territory.
Silver Dollar Saloon | Reserve the Saloon as your private clubhouse for a morning or afternoon. Challenge colleagues to darts, billiards, bowling, shuffleboard, checkers, chess or watch a movie in the private movie theater.

“Due to COVID -19, we cancelled our reservations for our annual Board meeting in Scottsdale – we needed a plan B. We wanted it in Montana and full service with all the amenities – meeting space, spa, activities, and options for food. I called several properties in Montana, within the next 48 hours we were locked and loaded, and Troy had everything finalized and PERFECT at The Ranch at Rock Creek. Troy became a beacon in an unknown world and Laura our Events Manager is over the top wonderful. Even when our group had a fast change of events – she responded like a champion. She shifts gears every moment of every day like it was nothing!  Accommodations – superb – comfy,  cozy, and thank you for the creek music – how cool is that to hear that when you wake up and when you go to bed? Food was great. I’d go back in a heartbeat and I hope to send more business whether company retreats or just families wanting the perfect vacation!

I am a Montana girl ~ born and bred and I have been very protective over the years as far as outsiders coming in to “our” paradise …..The Ranch at Rock Creek is very respectful of the land, the community, and its people.” ~ Patsy Galiher, Flathead Travel Service

We will continue to offer private activities, but space them out to ensure we can clean all the gear and sanitize it before every activity. Our Sharecare Health Security Verification with Forbes Travel Guide requires that we maintain every precaution to keep guests and staff safe.

Due to spacing of activity start times and sanitation of our extensive included equipment, each day we will include one guided activity and one nature-based activity. We have added 11 new guided or self-guided activities to ensure families will be able to explore further than ever before while creating space and time for proper sanitation and social distancing protocols for guided activities. For example, you might enjoy horseback riding in the morning and then sapphire mining, disc golf, hiking or Respite on Rock Creek in the afternoon.

We have staggered our start times for activities so that we can control the number of people in the Rod & Gun Club. Most fittings will be done at the site of the activity. We ask that you abide by start times for the safety of our staff and guests.

Per CDC recommendation, masks are recommended for unvaccinated guests in all indoor spaces and outdoor areas where 6 feet of space cannot be maintained. Our vaccinated employees are not required to wear masks indoors or outdoors, but may choose to wear them if they are more comfortable doing so. Employees are required to wear masks in vehicles going off property, such as airport transfers and off-ranch excursions.

We can accommodate guests who would prefer to have staff wear masks in their presence. Please relay this request to your group coordinator during the pre-booking process.

Common areas are disinfected throughout the day and between use by guests.

The Rod & Gun Club encourages guests to bring their own hiking boots, hats, gloves and other soft items to reduce the need to sanitize fabric items. Equipment fittings will be done at the activity location to reduce the number of people in the Rod & Gun Club. Staggered start times will also reduce crowding.

We ensure full sanitization services between room stays, including new COVID-19 protocols that have been part of our practice since reopening June 1, 2020. Our Sharecare Health Security Verification with Forbes Travel Guide is further proof that every precaution is maintained to keep guests and staff safe.

We have twice-daily turndown services. Guests may request reduced or no services during their stay.

Beverages are stocked in accommodations and snacks and periodicals can be requested.

Private meals and meetings will continue upon each group’s requests. Meetings and meals will be set up so that all attendees will be able to properly social distance. The Silver Dollar Saloon and Buckle Barn will be the primary locations of meetings for larger groups. Smaller groups are still able to utilize any of our meeting spaces as long as we can properly social distance all attendees.

Airport transfers are available and included from Missoula, Butte and Anaconda airports. A Ranch employee will greet guests at the airport and drive them to The Ranch. Masks will be worn by our staff members during transportation. Water and snacks are available for the drive.

Your Group Coordinator will collect all flight/travel information prior to arrival in order to provide transportation for all guests.

No, spa treatments are additional. Please see the list of what is not included in our pricing on our all-inclusive page.

Yes, your group coordinator will work closely with you and our culinary team to customize your menus.

We highly suggest packing layers. Mornings and evenings in Montana are chilly, afternoons have warmer temperatures.

All equipment needed for activities is provided through Rod & Gun Club. However, we do suggest that you pack your own hiking boots, hats, sunglasses, gloves and other commonly used items to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Riding boots with a one inch heel are recommended.

Yes, but we are limited to what we can offer. This service incurs an extra cost and depends on what type of clothing is requested to be washed. We have forms for guests to fill out and leave for Housekeeping in our accommodations. Several, but not all, of the accommodations have laundry facilities and guests are welcome to use these on their own at no additional cost.

Yes, events can be customized to meet group needs. Our events team can assist with the costs for custom activities. Please see the list of group activities above for ideas.

The Silver Dollar Saloon hours are 4pm-12am every day. The Silver Dollar Saloon can be reserved for private use by a smaller group through the Rod & Gun Club as part our included activities.
